What kind of bolt extractor does ProMAXX provide?
The only extractor that ProMAXX Tool will provide in certain kits is a splined extractors with a turn nut. This is the only style of extractor that ProMAXX Tool uses in their exhaust manifold repair kits due to their effectiveness, durability, and predictability on break-torque.
Straight fluted or splined extractors with a turn nut are just as simple to install as a straight fluted or spiral fluted extractor but with several key benefits. The technician will drill a hole in the broken stud or screw, then hammer in the flute, as with the previous two examples. These extractors have six narrow sides, or splines, that cut into the remnant which offer increased points of contact and surface area inside the pilot hole. This type of extractor allows for both clockwise and counter-clockwise rotation so that a technician can unlock the broken remnant by simply turning the extractor in either direction. They are far more effective and because of their larger cross section at the points of contact, they resist breakage and provide higher break-torque specifications as well. To extract, the technician will drop the slip nut over the spline to back the stud out.
Although more expensive than the other types, the advantage of the extractor with a turn nut is their resistance to deforming the broken stud or bolt, while delivering an equal distribution of force and torque directly to the extractor.

What does "EXTRACTOR-LESS" mean?
ProMAXX ProKits can be upgraded to drill out broken bolts completely, restoring threads back to factory standards.
Never break an easy-out again.
Drill. Tap. Done.
Why did my drill bit break?
Having the right drill bit in the right application can make the toughest job a breeze. The most common reason is because of the condition of the drilling surface. We recommend applying a small amount of drilling and tapping fluid to any heavy-duty drilling job. This will reduce the amount of torque and resistance your bit meets when drilling the initial pilot hole.
Another staple in any one of our drill applications are drill bushings. Drill bushings are mounted to an alignment fixture can be the difference between success and a costly failure. Threaded mounting bushings are most common in machine shops because of their superior accuracy.
What's the difference between a ProKit™ and a Base Kit?
A Base Kit includes the essentials needed to complete a repair quickly and easily. A ProKit™ is designed to give the technician all the options they need to handle even the most difficult repairs and is designed to be completely extractor-less. Both kits are fantastic options, it just depends on your needs and volume of repairs?
How can I order a ProKit™?
Our ProKits are designed to be uniquely fit for your needs. It's important that you speak to a member of our expert customer service team to discuss your specific needs and what components will be most beneficial to your repairs. Give us a call at 724-941-0941 today to build your kit.
